Dear Families,<\/span><\/p>\n

Welcome!! I am very excited to be teaching at Grewenow!\u00a0 I would like to take the opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself.\u00a0 My name is Jane Schires and I will have the pleasure and privilege of working with your child as their First Grade teacher here at Grewenow.<\/span><\/p>\n

As an educator, I believe in creating a positive, nurturing environment where my students feel valued and respected, growing academically, socially and emotionally to their fullest potential. I want to foster a love for learning and a growth mindset! Building a sense of community is a priority while providing engaging lessons and instruction.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I am certified to teach PreK-8th Grade.\u00a0 I started teaching for Kenosha Unified in 1991.\u00a0 I have taught 4K, Kindergarten, and First Grade and love working with this age level! Their enthusiasm and wonder towards learning new things is unparalleled and very contagious!\u00a0 Also, what could be better than learning how to read?!<\/span><\/p>\n

During the year, our learning will be guided through different curricular units of study based on \u00a0 state common core standards in Literacy, Math, Social Studies and science.\u00a0 Also, the children will continue learning and participating in special area classes such as Art, Music, Gym, and Library. Learning is differentiated to meet the needs of all our learners to create exceptional educational experiences! More information will be coming home soon about our class, routines, and school procedures!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Besides being a teacher, I am a mom of two boys and two furry pups, Daisy and Buddy!\u00a0 My oldest son, Luke (22) attends the University of WI Milwaukee and has a passion for Environmental Science!\u00a0 My youngest, Alec (17) is a senior at Indian Trail High School in the MedSci Academy and loves playing soccer for IT and participating in Youth In Governance!\u00a0 I love spending time with family and friends, hosting game nights, traveling and experiencing new places and cultures. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, swimming, and singing along to music with my not so great voice.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
