This year marks my 16th year as an educator and my 8th year teaching at Grewenow. You will see me around school not only as a teacher, but also a parent. I have two daughters attending Grewenow, and I feel very lucky to be part of the Grewenow community as a teacher and as a parent.

I was born and raised in Kenosha and returned here after teaching for a few years in Milwaukee. I began my teaching career as a classroom teacher when I mainly taught 3rd grade. My husband Luke and I moved to Kenosha in 2009 when we were both fortunate enough to be hired by Kenosha Unified Schools. He currently teaches and coaches at Lance Middle School. Together we have three wonderful children, Eleanor (9), Elsie (6), and Elliott (2 1/2). They are the light of my life and make every day the best day.

As I mentioned, as a child I attended schools in Kenosha. After graduating from Tremper High School I went on to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater where I obtained my teaching license (Elementary Education 1-8). After about six years of teaching I decided to further my education and return to school. I chose Cardinal Stritch University for my Masters degrees in ESL and Literacy. Since then I have taken many courses in both areas that help keep me informed of current and best teaching practices.

This school year I am looking forward to seeing my students grow as learners. It is my job to help students develop all areas of language (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), but I am hoping to place extra emphasis on writing this year. Working here for several years has given me the opportunity to really get to know the needs and personalities of our students. I love to see how they have changed and grown over the years and I can’t wait to see what this year brings!

["post-13665","staff-directory","type-staff-directory","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
