Your involvement tells your child that school is important, encourages your child to learn, as well as helps our pre-school programs meet state and federal government requirements.<\/p>\n<h2>There are many ways to be involved in pre-school. You can:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Serve on the Head Start Policy Council.\u00a0 The Policy Council makes sure that we are following federal guidelines and providing our children with a great Head Start experience.<\/li>\n<li>Attend Parent Meetings. Parent Meetings are ways for parents to learn how to help their child be a better reader or to learn skills to be a better parent. Parent Meetings are offered during the day and in the evening. They are in Spanish and English.<\/li>\n<li>Volunteer in the classroom. We always have activities that you can help us with!<\/li>\n<li>Participate in Home Visits and attend Parent-Teacher Conferences.<\/li>\n<li>Read to your child every day. This is one of the easiest activities you can do to ensure that your child does well in school!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As you can see, there are many opportunities to participate. We ask that you volunteer one hour each month to help our programs.<\/p>\n<h2>When Visiting Your Child&#8217;s Classroom&#8230;<\/h2>\n<p>Parents are always welcome in our classrooms. Your involvement and support of classroom activities make our program a successful one. To visit your child\u2019s classroom we ask:<\/p>\n<p>Please use the front door of the building.<\/p>\n<p>Please report to the office of the building or to Stacy, the Administrative Specialist at Chavez Learning Station immediately. You will need to sign in and receive a visitor badge. The visitor badge will identify you to the children and staff as a welcomed visitor.<\/p>\n<p>Please sign out and return the visitor badge when you leave.<\/p>\n<p>It is important that we know you are in the building even if only for a short time. The safety of our children is important to all of us.
