{"id":14,"date":"2018-09-28T20:30:07","date_gmt":"2018-09-28T20:30:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kusd.edu\/bullen-staging-new\/?page_id=14"},"modified":"2026-02-09T09:52:14","modified_gmt":"2026-02-09T15:52:14","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.kusd.edu\/bullen\/information\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"About Bullen Middle School"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Highlights<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Home to KUSD\u2019s middle school Dual Language Program where students become proficient in both English and Spanish through academic coursework.<\/li>\n<li>Students have the opportunity to select activities that allow them to further extend and explore their core curriculum through small-group, targeted instruction.<\/li>\n<li>Eighth-grade students serve as transition coaches who take an active leadership role in mentoring and helping sixth graders build relationships, grow their social skills and learn how to be successful middle schoolers.<\/li>\n<li>More than 25 academic clubs, a strong fine arts program, more than 15 sports clubs, and a variety of activities throughout the year, including Family Fun Nights, multiple alumni events, college and career events and more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 style=\"font-size: 23.04px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1055 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kusd.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/06\/clip_image002.jpg\" alt=\"Google Map image of Bullen's location.\" width=\"197\" height=\"195\" \/><\/h2>\n<p>Bullen continues to remain a strong middle school in the Kenosha Community.\u00a0 Our location in the northwest corner of the city is a great location for families looking to have a suburban feel right next to all the conveniences of one of Wisconsin\u2019s larger cities.\u00a0 Also, our school boundary makes it easy for families to access Sturtevant, Somers, Racine, Mount Pleasant, and Interstate 94.<\/p>\n<p>Kenosha Unified recently completed work on the 50-year-old building.\u00a0 Phase I of our $6.5 million renovation is completed and has enhanced our learning environment.\u00a0 Phase II brought updates to our gymnasium, auditorium, and elective classrooms in June of 2018.\u00a0 Combine the inside improvements with the updated athletic complex and it feels like new.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1057 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kusd.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/06\/clip_image004.jpg\" alt=\"Bullen Middle School updates: before and after images of various locations in the builiding.\" width=\"440\" height=\"292\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kusd.edu\/bullen\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/06\/clip_image004.jpg 440w, https:\/\/www.kusd.edu\/bullen\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/06\/clip_image004-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Bullen Middle School ensures EVERY child receives HIGH LEVELS of academic and social emotional growth toward becoming INDEPENDENT in the changing world of tomorrow. The three core values of our Bobcat Pride are: Be Responsible, Be Respectful, and Be Safe. Adolescence is a difficult time for many children as they strive to determine their identity and sense of independence.\u00a0 We want to help teach the behaviors that will make them successful and school and future places of employment.\u00a0 This effort by our staff has led us to receive multiple &#8220;Bronze&#8221; designations and a \u201cSilver\u201d designation from the state of Wisconsin.<\/p>\n<p>We have multiple opportunities for your child to be a part of the school as a member and as and alumni.\u00a0 We have over 30 clubs and extra-curricular activities to get involved including our largest ones: Art Club, Stem Club, Jazz Club, Chamber Orchestra and Soccer Club.
