Mrs. Marilyn Dickes

I am the fourth and fifth grade reading, language arts and social studies teacher. I grew up in the state of Iowa. After college, my husband and I moved to Illinois where our three children were born.

My teaching experience spans from first grade through sixth grade. I received my Master’s Degree in education from St. Xavier University and received training in Reading Recovery from National Louis University. I worked as a Title One Reading teacher and Reading Recovery Specialist in Illinois before moving to Wisconsin in 1999. I taught for 13 years at Jeffery Elementary School before moving to Brompton.

My favorite thing about teaching is building trust and compassion between myself and my students as we learn together. I love the wonderful sense of humor that fourth and fifth grade students have. Learning new things should be a joyful experience and laughter is an integral part of this process.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and working with my husband in our True Value store. I am a member of the Penguin Players singing group in Racine.
