Security at Board meetings

KUSD is aware of social media posts circulating stating that a parent attended last night’s board meeting while carrying a gun in a holster. Board President Yolanda Adams and administration want to assure our parents/guardians, students and community that this off-duty officer was hired by KUSD to provide support during our meeting, which has occurred at board meetings for the past several years as a precautionary measure for the safety of ALL attending. Please know that off-duty officers hired by the district for security purposes are authorized to carry a firearm while on school grounds. We appreciate your care, concern and understanding.
