Tickets for 52nd annual Choral Festival now on sale

The Kenosha Unified School District’s 52nd Annual Choral Festival will be presented on Saturday, Feb. 10, at 6:30 p.m. in the Indian Trail High School field house. The event will showcase over 1,300 students from the district’s elementary, middle, high and charter schools.

Tickets can be purchased at the KUSD Fine Arts web page. All seats are reserved, and patrons can choose between the field house performance venue ($8) and live-feed video auditorium seating ($3). The performance also will be streamed live on Channel 20 and YouTube. This event traditionally sells out, and tickets cannot be guaranteed at the door.

This year's guest conductor is Dr. Lee Nelson, director of choral activities at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. Nelson will visit KUSD secondary schools to rehearse with the choirs on Thursday, Feb. 8, and Friday, Feb. 9. The concert will feature performances by seven individual high school choirs. In addition, there will be combined performances featuring mass choirs from middle and high school, the men’s choir and the All-City Elementary Choir.

Participating directors and their schools are Bradley Mann, Bradford High School and Bullen Middle School; Kristen Singer, Harborside Academy; John Choi, Indian Trail Academy; Polly Amborn, Tremper High School; Rita Gentile, Lance Middle School; Kathleen Crane, Lincoln Middle School; Beth Herrendeen-Smith, Mahone Middle School; Anna Schmidt, Washington Middle School and Shannon Robertson, Kenosha School of Technology Enhanced Curriculum.

Patricia Black and Jennifer Westover will serve as accompanists for the festival. Scott Plank, coordinator of fine arts, will serve as master of ceremonies.
